Imagine it’s late 2024, Gracie Abrams JUST dropped The Secret of Us and has been teasing That’s So True. This is exactly how I’m feeling tonight. I went through a TERRIBLE breakup a few months after this album dropped, but the spark started when she first dropped. Our song was Close To You, and I was so afraid to ruin the friendship. Surprisingly, what convinced me to chance it was the song Risk from this album. Following the seperation I comeplety cut this influential album out of my life, and slowly she has been creeping back into my life. Bringing up old emotions, thoughts, and memories. And it’s so freaking weird man. How can two years have came and went just like that? How have I grown when I’m still that scared nineteen year old? How are there so many people that were essential lifelines no longer speaking with me? And in the midst of it all, when did I grow up? When did it all change and get so serious? I always have the strong urge to reach out to people who aren’t in my life anymore, and while I never do the thought still creeps in the back of my mine. I wonder if they think about me the way I think about them. Old friends, old flings, teachers, customers, faces that I was so used to seeing. I wanna say that it took everything in me not to text my ex tonight, but that would be a bold face lie. No matter how much I remember, deep down I know why things didn’t work out. Same goes for old friendships. We’ve changed, seperated and while I never wanted this to happen I had to let it. So many future plans, road trips, concerts, birthdays that I’ll never see but I can imagine. My favorite movie in high school was The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the quote “I know these will all be stories some day, and our pictures will become old photographs. We all become somebody’s mom or dad. But right now, these moments are not stories. This is happening. I can see it. This one moment when you know you’re not a sad story. You are alive. And you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you’re listening to that song, and that drive with the people who you love most in this world. And in this moment, I swear, we are infinite.” And in. my memories we are infinite, I even have a playlist I made about my best friends with that as the title. I sometimes wish we were infinite, but that’s not how life goes. I swear nostalgia will be the death of me. I know no one reads these things and honeslty it’s probaly for the best but getting these thoughts out and thinking someone may feel the same makes me feel so much better lol. Anyways go listen to TSOU deluxe!!!!!!
